Transfer Students

Welcome to the DU Community! We are excited to have you join us as a transfer student at DU. Transitioning to a new institution is a significant milestone, and we're here to ensure you have all the support you need to succeed.

Starting the week of June 16th, 2025, new transfer students can schedule individual advising meetings to review credits and discuss course options. You should have also received an email with directions on how to schedule your meeting.  If you did not receive this email, contact advising@022aode.com.  After meeting with an Academic Advisor, you will be cleared to register for Autumn quarter. New Transfer Student Registration for Autumn quarter is July 21-25, 2025.

Before you can register for classes, it's important that you meet with an academic advisor. This meeting will help you navigate your new academic journey at DU and set you up for success. To prepare for your advising appointment, please review the information below.

Get Connected with an Academic Advisor

• Step 1: Watch Registration Informational Videos (Required)

  Watch the short informative videos that will guide you through the mechanics of preparing for registration, completing DU’s billing agreement, how to register for classes and creating course plans.

• Quick Question Hours During Registration Week

  Quick Questions are 10-15 min max, same day, offered on a first-come, first-served basis, intended for quick problem solving to ensure accurate course enrollment.

  Monday-Friday (July 21nd-25th)

  Morning: 9:00 -11:30 AM Mountain Time

  Afternoon: 1:00 - 4:00 PM Mountain Time

  Add yourself to the queue (link coming soon; you can only add yourself during the hours listed above)

  Make sure to join the virtual meeting from a laptop and not your phone. 

Prepare for your individual Advising Meeting by Completing the Following:

• Complete Discoveries Fall Experience - Academic Advising & Student Success Canvas Module

  The Canvas module includes important information about the Common Curriculum, Academic Advising, and registration preparation. Allow at least 2 hours to complete this module. Taking your time with this module will set you up for success at DU!

• Request AP/IB Scores
  • Request that your AP Scores (if applicable) be sent to DU through the AP Portal (school code is 4842) 
  • IB graduates (if applicable) request your transcripts be sent directly to University of Denver through the IB Portal.

• Take the Language Placement test

  Language Placement test

  • Students who are continuing to study a language they started learning prior to DU take a placement test to determine their starting course level. Transfer students should speak with an Academic Advisor if they have transfer language credit and next steps. 
  • Some degree programs are exempt from the language requirement which includes the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) and all Engineering degree programs. Students with these declared degree types do not need to take the proficiency placement test.
  • Contact cwlc@022aode.com for questions regarding your placement test results. 
  • Some Transfer Students may have already completed the language requirement with incoming transfer credit. Review your degree audit or confirm with an Academic Advisor if this requirement has been met. 
• Use the Math Advising Tool

  Use the Math Advising Tool to determine the appropriate math course for your program/degree type. 

  Transfer students should speak with an Academic Advisor if they have transfer math credit and next steps.

  The math advising tool is for all incoming students. Depending on their intended major, transferred math courses and other considerations, the math advising tool will indicate which math course, if any, is required. If MATH 1200 (Calculus for Business and Social Sciences) or MATH 1951 (Calculus I) is required, the math advising tool will administer a math proficiency survey (approximately 45 minutes and 20 algebra questions) to test the level of preparation for these courses – the score will be recorded and students will receive a recommendation concerning math courses by email in early July. In order to ensure that you can register for the appropriate math class during New Student Registration in late July, the deadline to complete the Math Advising Tool is July 1.
